On 26 April 2024, SAFCEI together with Earthlife Africa Johannesburg, Project 90 by 2030, Koeberg Alert Alliance, African Climate Alliance, the Green Connection, and Social Change Assistance Trust will commemorate the 7th anniversary of the landmark ruling against the corrupt nuclear deal in the Western Cape High Court.
Seven years ago, on 26 April 2017, civil society achieved a significant victory in halting the South African government’s proposed R 1 trillion nuclear deal. As we reflect on this milestone, it’s important to acknowledge the ongoing efforts to safeguard our energy future.
Amid the South African government’s current determination to procure 2500MW new nuclear power and a pending application by Eskom for Koeberg’s long-term operation license extension for a further 20 years.
Join us for a peaceful vigil at Parliament from 9:00 am, followed by a film screening and discussion of The San Onofre Syndrome at The Labia Theatre from 11:00 am.
