WJC will continue to Mobilise, to organise and to resist.
Within 3 days schools all over the country will re-open, some parents who are fortunate enough will take their children to the over resourced ,well equipped, small class number schools in Witzenberg while some less fortunate children will need to stay at home simply because their mothers cannot afford private taxi fair and some children will need to walk in this heat.
This speaks about the inequality in Witzenberg. Sadly enough, the mothers that are now suffering is also the mothers who creates the WEALTH in Witzenberg. As factory, seasonal and farmworkers they will never taste the wealth their labour produces.
While the Witzenberg Municipality secretively facilitated a new shopping complex which aim to start 1 February 2025 in Ceres, there are there more 300+ mothers who are worried. The WC Departement of Education has cancelled scholar transport for learners. Since Monday parents went to the development site highlighting…“WE NEED SCHOOL BUSSES NOT A NEW BUSINESS”
