Only 17 maidens from about 19 chiefdom under Chief Gasa Wangwane in Eswatini attended the recently concluded first phase of Umhlanga Ceremony. This has resulted in the Chief summoning his subjects to explain why the children did not attend the annual ceremony. The meeting with about 300 Ndunayithini residents happened on Tuesday and was reportedly chaired by Ndunayithini indvuna yemcuba Nhlanhla Sikhondze. This has raised questions on the right of association as enriched in the country’s constitution.
