🌍 Join us for the first workshop from 21 to 24 May 2024 in Cape Town 🙏.
We are excited to announce that applications are open for the first in person Agroecology workshop for Faith Leaders in South Africa.
📍 Location: Cape Town 🗓 Date: 21-24 May 2024
We are looking for Faith Leaders in South Africa (Western Cape, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, Kwa-Zulu Natal) particularly those in leadership positions within their faith institutions or actively engaged in leadership roles within their communities, who have a passion for addressing climate change, sustainable food production and energy justice, and want to expand their network in the region to amplify their efforts, and can commit to a series of training workshops.
🌿 What to Expect in the first workshop:
– Engage with and learn from like-minded faith leaders from across South Africa
– Explore topics like the importance of local food systems, market access and indigenous knowledge in building resilience, and the adverse impact of industrialised food systems on animal, human, environment, and climate adaptability.
Develop ethical actions for your faith community.
– Expand your knowledge on the benefits of transitioning to agroecology and the need to become resilient to climate-related challenges.
Advocacy training – media skills, regional networking, messaging to decision-makers;
Multi-faith conversations – dialogues – on the relationship between food, the environment and faith.
A second workshop will be held later in the year focused on the just energy transition in climate justice and its links to food systems and agroecology. At the second workshop you will be asked to share what you have worked on with the SAFCEI Faith Leader network.
